Tbilisi
Explore the old-city streets around the Mtkvari, with Metekhi, the bath quarter and the bridges as separate landmarks. The tourism guide describes cobbled streets and the Kala quarter below Narikala. Do not assume fortress or bath access is included. Check current protest locations and choose a walking route that avoids gatherings before setting out.
Mtskheta
Start with Svetitskhoveli in the town, then plan hilltop Jvari as a separate transfer. The official guide also identifies Samtavro among Mtskheta's religious monuments. These are religious sites rather than interchangeable museum stops: check visitor hours, dress expectations and current services. The Waze search below is for Svetitskhoveli, not the whole group.
Samtskhe-Javakheti
See the medieval cliff-carved complex associated with Giorgi III and Queen Tamar, with chambers connected through tunnels and a frescoed church at its heart. This is a separate regional outing in Samtskhe-Javakheti, not an old-town walk in Tbilisi. Confirm current visitor routes, steep-path access, weather and guide arrangements before entering.
Near Gori
Explore the rock-cut streets and spaces above the Mtkvari near Gori. The official tourism page describes temples, public areas and wine presses carved into the cliffs. Confirm which routes and tunnels are open rather than treating the description as access permission; exposed stone, heat and weather deserve their own planning. Check the exact approach against current regional advice.
Kutaisi
Use Kutaisi for city visits, with Bagrati Cathedral on Ukimerioni Hill and Gelati Monastery as a separate trip outside the centre. UNESCO's current property is Gelati Monastery; the tourism page's wording that includes Bagrati in the listing is not used here. Check current conservation work, worship and visitor access before planning interiors.
Kakheti
Choose a town rather than treating Kakheti as one stop. In Sighnaghi, explore the cobbled streets, red-tiled houses and fortress-wall setting overlooking the Alazani Valley. Its museum and nearby Bodbe monastery are separate visits. Telavi remains a separate regional base to research, not a second stop included in this walking plan. Confirm current wall and museum access.
Borjomi area
Start with the park visitor centre, not a trail found only on a navigation app. The official park guide requires registration in Borjomi or Kharagauli before visiting tourist trails and says to stay on marked paths. Choose a route suited to fitness with staff, check weather and return arrangements, and carry food and water. Waze below searches the visitor centre, not a hiking route.
Upper Svaneti
Explore Mestia's tower heritage and the Svaneti Museum of History and Ethnography as distinct cultural stops. The official guide describes ancestral defensive towers and the museum's collection. Mountain-road access and weather need checking for the journey; hikes and ski-resort outings are separate plans, not included with a town visit. Confirm museum access before going.
