Grenada travel guide
Eight expanded regional leads: harbour heritage, coast, forest, waterfall and working cocoa, nutmeg and rum sites on Grenada, plus a separate Carriacou island stay. Choose a base and confirm access before combining them; this is not a booked route.
St George's heritage
Southwest Grenada
Start with the Carenage waterfront, then choose a separate museum or historic-street visit rather than assuming every building is open. The port authority distinguishes the Carenage and Lagoon as two basins within St George's working harbour; cargo quays and cruise berths are not public sightseeing areas. Inland streets are steep, so choose a route that fits your mobility and the heat. The National Museum's 2021 history explains that its corner building served the colonial constabulary and later became the Home Hotel; the old gaol was behind the museum, not the museum itself. The present museum was established in 1976. That history does not confirm today's galleries, hours or admission. Ask before entering religious buildings or photographing people. No museum ticket, fort access, guided walk or harbour boat trip is arranged.
Grand Anse coast
Southwest Grenada
Use Grand Anse as a coastal base, with a beach walk and a separate Craft & Spice Market visit if it is open. Official tourism lists arts and crafts, spices, jewellery, leather goods and hair-braiding services at the market, along with restaurants, toilets and showers; these are listed amenities, not confirmed availability for your day. Its published daily hours should be checked with the venue rather than treated as a reservation. Canadian advice notes water taxis between Grand Anse hotels and the capital, but no departure or fare is confirmed here. FCDO warns that currents can be deceptively strong and some beaches have neither lifeguards nor warning flags. Ask locally about today's safe swimming area, keep valuables supervised and avoid isolated beaches after dark. No swimming clearance, water sport, purchase or transfer is included.
Grand Etang nature
Central Grenada
Choose between a visitor-centre and crater-lake stop and a longer forest hike. Tourism describes a volcanic freshwater lake, viewpoints and several distinct trails: Morne LaBaye is listed as 200 metres, the Shoreline loop as two kilometres, and Mount Qua Qua as three kilometres one way. Those published lengths are route descriptions, not current trail-condition checks or estimates for your pace. Some connecting routes cross private land, so a forest map does not grant access everywhere. Canada's advice is to hire an experienced guide, avoid hiking alone, stay on marked trails and carry insurance covering rescue and medical evacuation. Confirm weather, footing, route openings, guide availability and return transport first. Birds and Mona monkeys are possible wildlife, not promised sightings; do not feed or approach them. No hike or guide is booked.
Annandale Waterfall
Western Grenada
Keep the waterfall viewing stop distinct from a forest expedition. Official tourism describes a roughly 30-foot cascade fed by mountain streams, gardens, an interpretation centre and the Wild Orchid restaurant; the protected-areas gateway places the wider Annandale reserve beside Grand Etang and identifies it as a multiple-use protected area. The reserve's extent is not the visitor route. Tourism's relaxed-swimming language is not a current water-safety assessment: check rainfall, pool conditions, permitted areas and staff advice before considering entry. Use the marked viewing route, be careful on wet surfaces and do not copy cliff jumps or diver performances. Confirm opening, admission, steps and which facilities are operating. No pool access, restaurant booking, waterfall jump or guided forest walk is arranged.
Belmont cocoa estate
Northern Grenada
Use Belmont to understand cacao cultivation and chocolate making on a working estate, not as a single all-inclusive tour. The operator lists a Classic Tour covering cacao, gardens and heritage, a Grenada Chocolate Experience, a four-hour Tree-to-Bar Chocolate Experience, an Organic Farm Experience and Goat Dairy Tours. These are separate offers; a general estate visit does not include every workshop, tasting or meal. Ask which process is operating on your day and what the selected tour actually covers, including language, walking surfaces, duration and price. The website's organic and kosher claims do not by themselves establish that a particular meal or product meets your own requirements; verify the exact item and certification separately. Confirm any dietary needs before booking. No tasting, lunch, workshop, ticket or transport is reserved.
Gouyave spice visits
Western Grenada
Choose Gouyave's Nutmeg Processing Station for a working-industry visit rather than expecting a generic spice garden. The tourism authority describes workers selecting, grading and packing nutmeg, a stencil room for personalised jute bags and a Nutmeg World shop. Production activity, demonstrations and custom bags depend on the day's work and visitor arrangements; the listing's US$1 tour price is not treated here as a live quote. Ask the station about current tours, opening, fee, photographs and which parts of the factory visitors may enter. Stay in the authorised visitor area and do not interrupt workers or handle produce without permission. A town stop is separate from a reserved factory tour or an evening event. Confirm transport for the west-coast journey and the return. No admission, shopping or demonstration is arranged.
River Antoine heritage
Northern Grenada
Research River Antoine as a working sugar-cane and rum estate on the northeast coast near the river of the same name. The regional rum-producers association describes cane-to-bottle production using a waterwheel and cultivation of coconuts and nutmeg. Its seventeenth-century estate wording and the independent travel guide's 1785 distillery date concern different descriptions, so no single foundation year is chosen here. The association lists weekday tours from 9am to 5pm, while US News gives 8am to 4pm and an older-looking admission figure; neither is copied as confirmed current hours or price. Ask directly about operating machinery, visitor areas, tastings and access. Strong rum needs care, and a travel review is not airline baggage permission. Arrange a sober driver if tasting. No alcohol purchase, tour, tasting or transport is booked.
Carriacou island
Carriacou
Choose a Carriacou base and confirm its accommodation and island transport before combining it with mainland Grenada. Tourism highlights wooden boatbuilding, Big Drum traditions, Shakespeare Mas, regatta and beaches, but these are cultural leads, not an event calendar or performance booking. Its welcome-back message follows Hurricane Beryl; current FCDO advice still warns of reduced tourist infrastructure after the July 2024 damage, so ask your host what is operating nearby. Osprey's operator page says fares and schedules may change without notice; its timetable is presented in images, and community schedules have older check dates, so no sailing time, fare or same-day connection is promised here. Confirm the actual terminal, outbound and return service, luggage and sea conditions. Respect working boatyards and community events. No ferry, room, beach activity or flight is booked.
