Spain travel guide

An eight-stop Spain starter for art museums, city architecture, selected coastal paths and mountain landscapes. Choose a mainland region or island first; tickets, transfers and trail permissions need separate checks.

Madrid art museums and separate tickets

Madrid

Choose a museum rather than treating Madrid's art collections as one admission. The Prado is one option for a collection visit, with galleries and temporary exhibitions to check against the ticket you choose. Its operator distinguishes free-entry conditions for the Collection from temporary-exhibition discounts; a free-entry period is not a promise of access to every exhibition. Audio guides and guided visits have their own options. Check the current calendar, entrance and accessibility arrangements before buying, and leave time for security and the walk between museums. Waze searches the Prado, not a reserved ticket or visitor parking space. The Prado's collection account explains its roots in sixteenth- and seventeenth-century royal collecting, with strong representation of artists such as Titian, Bosch, Velázquez and Goya rather than an encyclopaedic survey of every period. That gives a useful way to choose a focused visit by painter or school, instead of trying to cover several museums at once. The operator currently lists general admission at €15 and describes free Collection access during its last two hours, with separate temporary-exhibition discount conditions. These are published conditions, not a held ticket, guaranteed queue length or confirmation every work is on view. Check the chosen exhibitions, accessibility and actual visit date before paying.

Barcelona façades and Sagrada Família entry

Barcelona

Choose city streets and modernist façades separately from a reserved interior visit. The Sagrada Família operator's basic ticket includes the basilica, museum and app-based audio guide, but excludes the towers and crypt. Arrive for the date and time on your ticket, with the required identity document, and check the current dress and security rules. Bring earphones and a charged phone if using the audio guide. Other Barcelona buildings require their own admission check; seeing a façade does not grant interior entry. Waze searches the basilica, not a booked slot or permission to stop beside the entrance. The operator frames the basilica through Gaudí's architecture, the Nativity and Passion façades and changing interior light, with Christian symbolism central to the design. The museum interprets the building project and architect rather than serving as a ticket to other modernist houses. The fetched basic product lists general admission at €26; category-specific reductions and exclusions need checking against your ticket. Programme, worship and tower access remain separate decisions. No construction milestone, completed-building state, tower outing, crypt visit or ceremony is promised. Follow current dress and photography instructions and respect worshippers; interior colours depend on daylight, not a guaranteed photographic scene.

Bilbao riverside and Guggenheim visit

Bilbao

Combine a Bilbao riverside walk with a separately planned Guggenheim Museum visit. The operator includes an audio guide with admission and also lists a specific combo option with the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum; do not assume every ticket covers both. Check the exhibition calendar, exact ticket and visitor conditions before paying. The museum states that issued tickets are not refunded. It also says it has no visitor car park, so plan public transport or independently checked nearby parking rather than driving to a presumed museum space. Waze searches the museum, not admission, a parking reservation or a guided tour. The museum identifies Frank Gehry's titanium, limestone and glass building and dates construction to 1993–97 on a former industrial wharf by the Nervión. Its waterfront setting makes architecture and urban redevelopment part of the visit, separate from whichever artworks are currently exhibited. Compare the changing light on the exterior with the organisation of galleries around the atrium, without assuming exterior sculptures or particular works are always accessible. The operator's current admission options depend on visitor type and exhibition conditions, so no fixed general price is supplied here. Riverside public space is not permission to enter every museum terrace, sculpture area or gallery. Confirm the exact ticket and access; no guided visit, combined-museum slot or exhibition is reserved.

Córdoba streets and Mosque-Cathedral scope

Córdoba

Choose a historic-street walk separately from entering the Mosque-Cathedral. The operator lists distinct options for the main visit, bell tower and night visit, plus a Fernandine-church route with its own conditions. Check which option you want rather than assuming one ticket includes the tower or night experience. Its page points visitors to the Patio de San Eulogio information and reception centre. Use the calendar for your actual visit date; a displayed sample day is not a current opening promise. Check worship, visitor rules and the route's mobility needs. Waze searches the Mosque-Cathedral, not permission to drive historic lanes or an admission booking. UNESCO describes the historic centre as layered Roman, Visigothic, Islamic, Jewish and Christian urban heritage. The Mosque-Cathedral is one major part of that setting, not a pass into surrounding homes or courtyards. Research the relationship between the building, the city and its living religious use instead of treating every layer as one unchanging monument. The operator currently lists general Mosque-Cathedral admission at €15, the separate bell tower at €4 and night visit at €25, with different reductions and conditions. These are separate published products, not one combined price or a reservation. The fetched calendar displayed 18June 2026; do not use that sample as today's opening. Worship and access instructions govern the particular visit. Official calendar sample is stale - recheck closer to your travel date.

Granada and Alhambra timed-ticket scope

Granada

Plan Granada's streets and the Alhambra as separate visits. The General ticket normally lists the Nasrid Palaces, Partal, Alcazaba and Generalife, with a specific Nasrid Palace entry time and a dated complex visit. Bring the original identity document and ticket QR code. The official ticket home page displays visitor-route and closure notices whose present applicability needs checking; do not treat the product's usual inclusions as guaranteed open. Its General product says changes and refunds are not accepted. Waze searches the Alhambra, not the correct gate, a timed slot or parking. UNESCO explains the relationship between the Alhambra's palatine architecture, Generalife gardens and irrigation, and the Albayzín's residential urban fabric. The heritage property is broader than one ticketed palace room, and the neighbourhood is still a living place. Look at courtyards, decoration, water and landform as connected design rather than adding unverified interiors to a street walk. The General product currently displays €22.27, original-ID requirements and no changes/refunds under its stated purchase policy. Its usual inclusions and the operator homepage's displayed closure and altered-route notices differ; those notices contain 18August language without a clear current-year assurance. Confirm the actual operating scope for your date directly rather than hardcoding today's closure or treating the usual product as all areas open. No Nasrid Palace time or permission for a closed area is held. Official page stale/conflicting - recheck closer to your travel date.

Costa Brava town and chosen coastal path

Catalonia

Choose a specific seaside base, such as Begur or Palamós, before planning a Costa Brava outing. The regional tourism board describes Camí de Ronda paths ranging from promenades and beaches to narrow, steep and sometimes technical sections. This is not one uniformly easy seafront stroll. Pick a short stretch with a mapped start, finish and return plan, and check current closures, weather and access locally before setting out. A cove on a walking route does not establish safe swimming or step-free access. Waze searches Begur as a town arrival point, not a hiking route, beach parking permit or boat booking. The regional tourism account explains the Camins de Ronda's association with coastal patrol and smuggling control, including the nineteenth-century customs force. That history helps interpret the paths linking settlements, but it is not a safety classification or encouragement to enter caves, secluded properties or former hiding places. Its longer multi-stage walking products are distinct from choosing a short local path; historic continuity does not mean a continuous accessible coastal pavement. Check the specific section's surface, exposure, stairs, return transport and current local conditions. No walking package, luggage transfer, boat departure, cove access or protected-area permit is purchased. Sea views do not establish a safe swim; heed lifeguards and current beach flags.

Sierra Nevada visitor centre and chosen route

Andalusia

Start with a specific Sierra Nevada route in Andalusia, not a generic mountain or summit plan. The national-park service lists El Dornajo visitor centre on the A-395 towards Pradollano for information, orientation and maps. Its route network includes village and landscape walks as well as higher-mountain outings; a listing is not a guarantee that the path is open or suitable for your fitness. Check current mountain weather, road and trail conditions, equipment and return arrangements. Ski activities need a separate operator and service check. Waze searches El Dornajo, not a summit, ski pass or safe mountain itinerary. The national-park guide describes Mediterranean high-mountain ecosystems, biodiversity and endemism, and explains how earlier glaciers shaped cirques and valleys. This is a way to understand mountain scenery without choosing a summit merely because it appears in a landscape photograph. Higher protected terrain and the surrounding natural-park area are different from the ski resort and have their own route and visitor arrangements. El Dornajo is an orientation lead, not an assumed point from which every trail starts. Its listed seasonal hours need rechecking, especially before making a trip depend on staff advice. No summit, snow condition, safe climb, ski service, permit price or overnight outing is supplied. Choose a route after checking fitness, equipment, weather, daylight, road and trail restrictions.

Tenerife landscapes and Teide permission

Canary Islands

Choose a Tenerife area before combining volcanic scenery, forest walks and coast. A Teide cable-car outing is not summit permission. Tenerife ON says the restricted PNT-10 Telesforo Bravo trail needs prior authorisation, applies only to its specified date and time, and is independent of whether the cable car runs. The route is steep and at high altitude; check the mountain forecast, road access and mandatory equipment. Other Teide trails also have authorisation requirements, and a fee may apply depending on the booking. No permit or cable-car availability is verified here. Waze searches the cable-car base, not a summit route, ticket or authorisation. Tenerife ON describes the La Rambleta-to-crater route as short but demanding, starting at high altitude with steep gradients, fumaroles and specialised volcanic habitats. Short distance is not low physical risk, and a general municipal forecast is not the summit forecast. Its equipment guidance updatedJuly 2026 says access may be denied even with a valid booking if mandatory equipment is missing; snow or ice adds specific crampon/ice-axe and experience conditions. Read the current detailed requirements, not a generic packing list. The trail authorisation covers its specified route and time, not cable-car operation or unrestricted access to other Teide trails. No date-specific fee, slot, clear view, ascent, snow-free condition or return ride is established. Preserve volcanic habitats and stay within authorised areas. Operator recheck required closer to your travel date; current rules are planning context, not certification for a future trip.
