Germany travel guide
An eight-city Germany starter for chosen museum collections, historic lanes, cathedral visits and riverfronts. Pick a region first; museum tickets, renovation notices, tower climbs and harbour cruises need separate checks.
Berlin Museum Island and renovation checks
Berlin
Choose the specific Museum Island collections you want, then compare individual admission with the operator's one-day Museumsinsel ticket. Large special exhibitions may still require a time-slot booking. The Pergamonmuseum is currently closed for renovation; Pergamonmuseum. Das Panorama is a separate nearby exhibition building, not entry to the closed main museum. Official pages give different 2027 reopening dates, so confirm the latest notice rather than planning around one date here. Check current museum opening, included exhibitions and access for your visit. Waze searches the island as an area reference, not a museum slot or entrance.
Bremen market square and Schnoor lanes
Bremen
Start around the market square with the town hall, Roland statue and cathedral, then walk to the Schnoor district. Bremen's tourism site describes narrow, car-free lanes, historic houses and old cobblestones; choose a route suited to your mobility rather than assuming every alley is easy to use. A street walk does not include a town-hall tour, museum visit or entry to private houses. Check each interior's current admission and booking separately, and do not assume shops follow the same calendar as the streets. Waze searches Schnoor as an arrival reference, not permission to drive the lanes or a reserved tour.
Cologne cathedral tourist entry and tower choice
Cologne
Choose a tourist visit to the cathedral interior, the Treasury or the South Tower, then check the corresponding admission rather than assuming one ticket covers all three. The cathedral says tourist interior visits have required a ticket since July 2026 and take place outside liturgical times; prayer access is a different purpose and route. The tower has 533 steps and no lift, so confirm suitability before adding it. Respect covered-shoulder and clothing rules, worshippers, barriers and photography limits. Check current services and restrictions. Waze searches Cologne Cathedral, not a ticket or the tower's separate entrance.
Dresden Royal Palace and timed Historic Green Vault
Dresden
Choose the Royal Palace collections and decide whether you want the Historic Green Vault. The museum distinguishes its timed-entry Historic Green Vault ticket from the Royal Palace ticket, which excludes that room but includes collections such as the New Green Vault, Armoury and State Apartments. A combined option is listed, but check its exact scope and your slot before paying. Historic and New Green Vault are not interchangeable names. Photography is excluded in the Historic Green Vault, and other exhibitions have their own limits. Confirm current opening and access. Waze searches the Royal Palace, not a booked Historic Green Vault time.
Düsseldorf old town and Rhine promenade
Düsseldorf
Build a walk between Burgplatz, the historic town hall and the Rhine embankment promenade, then choose any museum or church interior separately. The city describes the old town's narrow streets and the promenade's river views toward Oberkassel; this is a city walk, not a boat tour or a museum pass. Check current riverside access, weather, events and a route suited to your mobility. A view of the Rhine does not establish safe swimming, and a cruise needs its own operator, departure and ticket. Waze searches Burgplatz as an arrival reference, not parking beside the river or permission to drive pedestrian streets.
Frankfurt selected Museumsufer collections
Frankfurt
Choose a few museums by collection rather than treating the Museumsufer as one building. Frankfurt's cultural office lists a MuseumsuferTicket for participating museums on two consecutive days, covering permanent and special exhibitions. It is not transferable and requires genuine identification; its validity rule allows an extension when museums are officially closed on the day after purchase. Check the current participating list, each museum's opening and any visit arrangements before relying on the pass. A riverside walk does not itself grant admission. Waze searches Schaumainkai as an area reference, not a ticket or every museum entrance.
Hamburg harbour walk and tide-dependent cruise
Hamburg
Choose a waterfront walk or a separately booked harbour cruise from a confirmed departure point. Hamburg's tourism board describes different vessels and tour lengths; some harbour tours enter Speicherstadt only when tides and water levels allow. Do not buy a general harbour trip assuming it guarantees a particular canal route. Check the exact operator, pier, language, vessel access, current conditions and cancellation terms. Museum ships, warehouse attractions and concert visits are separate admissions. Waze searches Landungsbrücken as an arrival reference, not a boarding pier, boat reservation or route guarantee.
Munich Pinakothek choice and closed Neue building
Munich
Choose an open art museum by collection and exhibition before planning Munich's museum district. The operator currently marks the Neue Pinakothek closed for major renovation, with selected nineteenth-century works displayed at the Alte Pinakothek and Sammlung Schack instead. Do not navigate to the Neue building expecting normal admission. Its one-day combined ticket lists the Alte Pinakothek, Pinakothek der Moderne, Museum Brandhorst and Sammlung Schack during their respective opening hours, but excludes separately charged special exhibitions. Check present displays, opening and access. Waze searches the Alte Pinakothek, not the closed Neue or a ticket.
