Anguilla travel guide
An eight-lead heritage and art research starter, from plantation history and a historic church to sculpture, paintings, crafts and the moved Heritage Collection. Confirm present permission, location and transport; this is not a booked gallery circuit or beach itinerary.
Wallblake House with plantation history in context
The Valley
Use Wallblake House to ask how plantation society shaped Anguilla, including the lives and labour of enslaved people, rather than treating it only as an attractive old building. The Tourist Board identifies it in The Valley; a 2023 local report described repairs, inventory work and preparations for reopening, not a present tour schedule. Sources differ on its construction date, so no exact year is used here. Confirm current permission, which rooms and grounds are accessible, interpretation, steps, toilets and photography before travelling. Proposed craft and food areas in the old report are not promised facilities. Arrange daytime transport and leave private or church areas alone.
Ebenezer Methodist Church as a permitted heritage visit
The Old Valley
The Tourist Board places Ebenezer Methodist Church among the historic buildings of the Old Valley on the road toward Crocus Hill. Use it as a lead for understanding local religious architecture and community history, not an automatic interior stop. Ask the church whether visitors are welcome, which areas are public, and about services, modest dress, stairs and photography. Do not interrupt worship or photograph people without consent. Nearby historic houses listed by tourism are not all museums or open private homes. Plan a short daytime visit with confirmed transport rather than assuming a heritage trail has current access throughout.
Devonish Art Gallery for sculpture and Caribbean art
West End
Explore the relationship between material and form through Courtney Devonish's wood, stone and clay work and Carrolle Devonish's bead jewellery. The Tourist Board describes the gallery as a showroom with other Caribbean art; July 2025 reporting also describes ceramics and changing artists. These accounts are not an inventory for your visit or a promise to meet the artists. Confirm today's gallery location, opening, access, displays and permission to photograph or touch objects. An old directory-linked Devonish website now shows unrelated gambling content and is not used here. No purchase, shipping arrangement, class or demonstration is included.
Cheddie carving studio for driftwood sculpture research
West End
The Tourist Board describes Cheddie's West End studio near the turnoff to Meads Bay and his use of driftwood for sculpture. Consider how the wood's existing shape influences an object, then ask the host which work can be viewed. Tourism's invitation to watch carving is not proof that the artist will be working when you arrive. Confirm the current entrance, opening, accessible space, any appointment and photography rules directly. A working studio is not permission to enter tool areas, handle materials or touch finished pieces. No live demonstration, lesson, purchase or export approval is promised; ask about safe packing only if you later choose to buy.
Lynne Bernbaum gallery with Sandy Ground location checked
Sandy Ground, confirm exact entrance
Explore paintings and prints through pattern, colour and the geometry of nature. The Tourist Board describes these themes; July 2025 reporting discusses series including goats, cactus, market scenes and abstraction. Those examples are artistic context, not a guarantee of works on the wall. Newer reporting and TRUE Anguilla's directory place the gallery in Sandy Ground, rather than the older George Hill lead. Confirm the exact entrance and visitor arrangements before travelling. The artist's contact page lists a weekly schedule, but it is not live availability for your dates. Ask about originals versus prints, photography, steps and artist presence. No private studio access, commission or purchase is included.
Savannah Gallery with historic houses and current display checks
Historic Lower Valley
The Tourist Board describes original Anguillian and Caribbean art in two adjacent historic houses in the Lower Valley. Use the setting to compare an artwork's subject, material and the artist's own story, rather than treating all regional work as one style. The directory's listed hours and artists are not confirmation of current opening or inventory. Confirm today's entrance, exhibitions, appointment needs, steps and photography before making the trip. Historic-house character does not guarantee step-free rooms or permission to enter neighbouring homes. No particular artist, painting, private-house tour or sale is included; do not rely on a former gallery domain for present arrangements.
Anguilla Arts and Crafts Center requiring local confirmation
The Valley
The Tourist Board lists a Valley craft centre with needlework, ceramics, artwork, books and postcards. Treat that as a starting point for learning about local making, not a promised staffed workshop or current stock list. Confirm that the centre is operating, its present location, visitor hours and accessible entrance through current local information before travelling. Ask which pieces were made locally and who made them; not every object sold in a destination was produced there. Seek permission before photographing people or work, and do not handle fragile pieces without asking. No class, maker meeting, purchase or shipping service is included.
National Museum collection lead, not the old museum address
Crocus Hill, confirm current public access
Research Anguilla's history through the Heritage Collection's move, rather than travelling to its former East End museum on an old guidebook's advice. A local report dated March 2024 records the handover of historic and cultural objects to the Ministry of Social Development at the restored Old Court House on Crocus Hill, to become the National Museum. Its projected 2024 inauguration is not proof of today's public opening. Ask the Tourist Board or museum for current access, exhibitions, interpretation, steps and photography rules before planning a visit. No admission price, opening schedule or displayed object is promised. Hibernia is not substituted as a gallery outing: its own site says its restaurant closed in May 2025 and changed to accommodation, without confirming public gallery access.
